Publisher’s Note: A power patient communication tool for physicians

As you may already know, Central Florida Media Group works in close collaboration with the Polk County Medical Association to bring the Central Florida medical industry three publications: Central Florida Doctor magazine, which is the bi-monthly business-to-business magazine and the official newsletter of the PCMA; The Central Florida Physicians Directory and Medical Professionals Guide, which is published annually and is the most comprehensive medical database of our region; and Central Florida Health News, which is the patient-focused magazine and is published monthly.

I specifically wanted to talk about the patient magazine for three reasons:

  1. It is the only health consumer magazine designed and written for patients in the region. It has the endorsement from the PCMA and a readership of 35,000 and growing.
  2. It is the only local consumer health magazine that is co-edited by fellow physicians; it is relevant and timely.
  3. And, most importantly, it is a powerful communication tool for local physicians to reach the community and potential new patients.

How do I know this? Well, at Central Florida Media Group, we’ve worked hard to make sure that the publication gets into the hands of what I like to call, “the interested audience.” That would be anyone who considers themselves to be health-conscious individuals and the local medical services consumer. But again, how do I KNOW that our magazine is getting into the hands of these kinds of people?

My answer lies in the results of an online Reader Survey, which was conducted by an independent third party called Verified Audit Circulation. This survey was conducted from December 2012 until March 2013, and within this timeframe, Verified Audit was able to collect a lot of interesting data. The results of the survey tell us several things, but perhaps the most important finding is that the readers of Central Florida Health News are health-conscious individuals. Our readers are also predominantly female, are college graduates, own their home, read magazines, use social media, and have health insurance.

The next three pages will give you more details about the informative findings of this survey. Basically, what the survey findings show is that our work on providing relevant and timely content is paying off. We are helping local physicians have a voice in the community by getting them in front of the audience where they most need to be heard. If you’re looking for a way to diversify your practice, gain new patients, educate the public about your medical services, or increase awareness about a topic under your specialty, then Central Florida Health News magazine is a powerful tool in which you can communicate that message.

If you have questions about the results of the survey, or about how Central Florida Health News can help you get your message out to the right audience, then email or call me any time.
