Autism Spectrum Community Education Series
Winter Haven Hospital Foundation presents a series of free, Thursday evening seminars/meetings for family members, caregivers, and service providers to help learn strategies for communicating with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants will learn how to create sensory-friendly environments and use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to help those with autism express preferences/tolerance for health care related procedures, as well as discuss tips/methods to help manage behaviors like aggression and non-compliance during exams, procedures, and vaccinations. From 5-7 p.m. at the BayCare Medical Group FSU/WHH Family Medicine Residency, 1201 First Street South, in Winter Haven.

Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Support Group
When you or someone you care for has a stroke, staying informed and meeting with other stroke survivors and caregivers is important. Join other stroke survivors and caregivers at this free support group meeting from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Please note, if you are planning to attend in person, the group will be held in the Kathy Hunt Learning Center located on the second floor of the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children at 1324 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland. Sunrise Yoga @ Bonnet Springs Park
A special, free sunrise yoga session led by Yoga Pointe from 7-8:30 a.m. on the Boathouse Lawn. All ages and abilities are welcome! Come rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit celebrating both International Day of Yoga and the Summer Solstice! A bottle of water, sunscreen, and a towel are all highly recommended to bring along. At 7:45 a.m., a sound bath meditation will be led by Amy Under the Oak and Cassie Moore, sound healer, from 8–8:30 a.m.

Cancer Support Group
Held every fourth Tuesday of the month, learn fun and engaging exercises that will keep you moving, healthy, and smiling with other individuals on a similar cancer journey. The cancer support group to share stories of survivorship, hope, and strength is held after the exercise class. Located at the Hollis Cancer Center, 3525 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland, the exercise run starts at 5 p.m. and the support group starts at 5:45 p.m. No RSVP is required – feel free to just show up! Pole Walking Class
Held at Lake Crago Outdoor Recreation Complex, 525 Lake Crago Drive in Lakeland,
this fun and unique class will reveal the benefits of walking with a pole, from
strengthening your core and burning more calories, to managing pain and blood sugar.

Stuff the Bus
Hosted by Lakeland Regional Medical Center and YMCA. Do your part to help them stuff a big yellow school bus full of school supplies for students and teachers in Polk County! Each day the bus will be at a different location, as listed below:
- June 29 – Bob Adams Family YMCA, 4-7 p.m.
- June 30 – Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center / Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
- July 1 – Lakeland Regional Health Grasslands Campus, 8-11 a.m.

Held at the Florida Children’s Museum, 600 Bonnet Springs Blvd in Lakeland, this
hands-on event for children ages 6 and younger will encourage them to experience the
world through their senses, discovering new textures, sounds, and smells. Meet in the
Watermelon Seeds Gallery from 1:30-2 p.m. in the Fruit Bowl programming area.

Alzheimer Association In-Person Caregiver Support Group
A safe and supportive environment for discussions and education about Alzheimer’s and specifically geared towards caregivers of friends or family members with Alzheimer’s. Confidential and educational, participants can develop methods and skills to assist in potential challenges together. Located at Methodist Temple, 2700 South Florida Avenue in Lakeland from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. This event is free of charge, but registration must be completed via the Alzheimer Association’s 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900.

Diabetes Support Group: Stress and Diabetes: Care for your Mind, Care for your Sugar
Do you or someone you love have diabetes? Join the Diabetes Support Group, hosted by Lakeland Regional Health. Whether you’ve been managing it for years or are newly diagnosed, the support group offers valuable education, resources, and connections with others. Breastfeeding Basics Class
Hosted by Watson Clinic Professional Center at 1430 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland, all expectant parents, and new parents/babies are welcome to attend this event from 1-4 p.m. Learn the best positions/ways for baby to latch, production and pumping, schedules vs. on demand feeding and more basics of breastfeeding from a supportive licensed RN while also meeting new parents and building community.
