OVER THE LAST YEAR, we’ve held seminars and published several articles in Central Florida Doctor relating to the upcoming ICD-10 conversion. With the deadline approaching this October, this special Technology Edition of Central Florida Doctor focuses on some specific considerations for your practice that you should deliberate over (if you haven’t already). For some of you, this article might be validation that you’re on the right track, confirming that you’ll be ready when the time comes to make the switch. For others, it might serve as a reminder that there is not much time left to finish making the appropriate preparations.
As spring approaches, I’d also like to remind our members that now is the time to renew. If you are not a member of the Polk County Medical Association, then we’d like to invite you to join. Some of the many benefits of membership include the following:
• Physician referrals
• Medical malpractice discounts with The Doctors Company
• Ongoing relevant communication
• Access to CME Programs
• Workers compensation insurance benefits
• Complimentary socials/dinners
• Strong PCMA physician representation in Central Florida Health News and Central Florida Doctor publications
• Listing advantages in the annual Central Florida Physicians Directory & Medical Professionals Guide
• Physician and medicine advocacy at all legislative levels
For more information about how to get involved with the PCMA, please contact Jackie Courtney at (863) 644-4051 or email director@polkcountydoctors.com.
On a side note, we have a special event coming up for our community on April 11. The Polk County Medical Foundation is partnering with Citizen CPR to bring the public an educational, informative, and free hands-on seminar. The event will be held at the Good Shepherd Hospice facility located at 3450 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland, beginning at 9 a.m.
Last, but not least, members are invited to join us for a Cajun Crab Shack Spring Social on March 20 at 6:30 p.m. PCMA members Laura and Dr. Ralph Nobo Jr., MD, will be our hosts at 840 Mann Road in Bartow. For more information or to RSVP, please call (863) 644-4051.
