Longtime eagle-eyed readers of Central Florida Health News may notice something different in this month’s edition. Here’s a hint: When one chapter closes, another begins.
Since October 2016, Dr. Joy Jackson with the Florida Department of Health in Polk County has written our monthly Medical Advice column, offering valuable insight on topics critical to public health. During those nine years, she’s delved into everything from breast cancer awareness and back-to-school vaccinations to heart disease risk factors and sleep safety for infants.
In April, Dr. Jackson announced her well-earned retirement. We extend our heartfelt thanks for her years of dedicated service and the knowledge she’s shared with our readers. It’s been an honor to work with her.
We’re grateful for the strong relationship Central Florida Media Group has built with the Department of Health,
As we turn the page, we’re excited to share that DOH-Polk Medical Director Dr. Alison Young-Tan is continuing the Medical Advice column. We greatly appreciate her willingness to step in and her shared commitment to keeping Polk County residents informed and empowered.
We wish Dr. Jackson all the best in her retirement and offer a warm welcome to Dr. Young-Tan.
