LAKELAND, Fla. – Lakeland Regional Health is proud to welcome 40 area high school students to a new four-week DISCOVER Summer Enrichment Program.
The program is designed to provide students in grades 10-12 with an immersive educational experience that enhances their academic skills, health literacy, and career readiness. Participants will engage in interdisciplinary learning through interactive coursework, hands-on activities, and real-world applications. The program also aims to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills while fostering leadership and a mindset of lifelong learning.
“We’re so excited to welcome this group of talented students to the Discover program. This is more than a summer experience — it’s a launchpad for the next generation of healthcare leaders,” said Lauren Springfield, Director, Community Health & Diabetes Services for Lakeland Regional Health.
During the four-week program, students will explore topics including the emergency care and patient admission, the hospital patient journey, specialty fields, career options, and college readiness. A mix of interactive lectures, hands-on activities, guest lectures from industry experts, group collaboration, and peer mentorship will help students gain deeper insights into health, business, and leadership principles, all while preparing them for careers in healthcare one day.
The program will conclude with a graduation ceremony at Southeastern University on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at 2 p.m.
