KISSIMMEE, Fla. – This morning, HCA Florida Osceola Hospital recognized members of St. Cloud Fire Rescue, St. Cloud Police Department and City of St. Cloud dispatchers with excellence awards for their critical role of early intervention, seamless teamwork and exceptional pre-hospital care in improving patient outcomes.
The recognition follows the emergency response and care provided to Donna Allred, a St. Cloud resident who suffered sudden cardiac arrest while at work earlier this year. After CPR was initiated, St. Cloud Police Department officers continued lifesaving efforts and used an automated external defibrillator, or AED, to help restore her heart rhythm. Donna was transported by St. Cloud Fire Rescue to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where she received critical treatment and compassionate care from the hospital’s emergency department and expert cardiovascular team of doctors and nurses.
During the ceremony, Donna reunited with the first responders, dispatchers and hospital caregivers who helped save her life. HCA Florida Osceola Hospital presented excellence awards, certificates and plaques to St. Cloud Police Department officers, St. Cloud Fire Rescue EMS crews and City of St. Cloud dispatchers in recognition of their quick response, lifesaving actions and dedication to the community.
Donna’s story highlights the lifesaving importance of CPR, having AEDs readily accessible and the coordinated emergency response of local police, dispatchers, fire EMS crews and hospital caregivers. It also underscores the experienced, compassionate cardiovascular care available in Osceola County through HCA Florida Osceola Hospital’s cardiovascular program.
