Happy anniversary, Central Florida Health News!

One year ago this month, we launched the official consumer publication for the Polk County Medical Association (PCMA).

Since then, Central Florida Health News magazine has been a local source of news, time-relevant stories, and health-related topics for readers all across the region. We have covered everything from autism awareness in the very first edition to “7 Safety Tips for Summer” in the June 2011 issue. We’ve also brought you great coverage of local health events like the Child of the Sun Triathlon in the May 2011 edition, which is coming up again on April 21. Plus, we’ve brought you photos of important health fundraisers such as Cookin’ Men (which you can sample this year’s fun on page 24), the Winter Haven Hospital Gala from the December 2011 edition, and the Susan G. Komen Polk Race for Cure event from the February 2012 edition.

Another important part of our message is to introduce you to the local physicians of the PCMA. These doctors are here to provide medical insight and help you live the healthy lifestyle you need. So you can rest assured you’re always getting sound, reliable information about anything you read in this publication.

I’d like to take a moment to thank the doctors of the PCMA, the PCMA board and executive director, as well as Central Florida Media Group staff and contributing team members for a great year in publishing, and I look forward to many more. I’d also like to thank our subscribers who’ve followed us from the beginning, as well as the new readers who’ve just discovered us. Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to send out a special “thank you” to the advertisers for their patronage, because their business makes the publication possible and complete.

Don’t forget that we’re celebrating our anniversary with a coloring contest for kids! See more details on page 8.
