PCMA Letter: Covering lots of ground

In this edition of Central Florida Doctor, we are covering several topics of concern.  We have spoken to a few retired members of the medical community about the potential pitfalls of planning for retirement.  These doctors have been there and done that, so who better to go to for insights on what to do up-to and after retirement?  We’re also presenting some detailed information in a question and answer format on how to look out for potential risks in liability and what new laws affect doctors and insurance companies in malpractice lawsuits, specifically, the Consent to Settle Authority law. Other topics of interest include a feature on the latest surgical technologies available and in-use right here in our own medical community.  You’ll be interested to read about the new Hybrid Operating Room at Lakeland Regional Medical Center as well as a new mobile application developed by a local physician. As always, the Polk County Medical Association is available to assist the community with all medical matters.  If you have a question or require assistance, please feel free to contact or visit us at our new location.  We have been successful in acquiring a suite of office spaces not too far from our previous address that will better suit the needs of our growing organization.  The organizations We Care of Polk County, Project Think Pink, and our MedNet navigator have all moved with us.  Our new address is 4315 Highland Park Boulevard, Lakeland, Florida 33813.  Our phone numbers remain the same, so if you have any questions, please contact us at (863) 644-4051.   Sincerely,   Arvind B. Soni, MD
