DAVENPORT, Fla. (Tuesday, March 31, 2026) — Men in Polk County experiencing the frustrating symptoms of an enlarged prostate now have a new option for relief close to home. AdventHealth Heart of Florida is introducing an advanced robotic-assisted procedure that allows specially trained physicians to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with precision, helping patients return to daily activities more comfortably while supporting their overall health and well-being.
The PROCEPT BioRobotics Hydro Robotic System enhances Aquablation therapy by providing precision and consistency designed to improve outcomes and support a more comfortable recovery. The AI-powered robotic system features FirstAssist AI, built from real Aquablation procedures, to identify critical anatomy on ultrasound and help tailor treatment to each patient. Research shows Aquablation therapy is clinically proven to offer significant, long-lasting relief from BPH symptoms while preserving sexual function and continence.
“It’s minimally invasive, and it has artificial intelligence–assisted planning that helps identify the anatomy and allows the surgeon to define a plan with the robotic platform so that when it removes the obstructing tissue, it protects all other critical structures,” said Dr. Faiyaaz Jhaveri, a urologist who performs the procedure at AdventHealth Heart of Florida.
For many men, prostate enlargement is a common part of aging. Some begin noticing changes around age 40, and about half of men experience BPH by age 60. While the condition may not lead to any significant issues, some men may experience sleep disruptions from needing to use the bathroom often at night, difficulty fully emptying the bladder or other urinary problems.
Without treatment, BPH can lead to more serious health issues, including permanent bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones and incontinence.
Removing obstructing tissue through surgery or laser procedures has traditionally been the most common form of treatment for persistent moderate to severe situations. Though helpful, the use of heat does bring potential risks, including erectile dysfunction.
One option to reduce certain risks is considering Aquablation. This minimally invasive robotic approach uses heat-free technology to remove a precise amount of tissue using room temperature water, with no external incision needed. It also allows surgeons to create a personalized treatment plan that precisely targets which prostate tissue to remove and which to preserve. With this tailored approach, the system accurately removes problematic tissue while safeguarding critical anatomy.
