It’s not breaking news that there has been a surge in healthcare expansion across Central Florida and Polk County in particular.
The healthcare industry is booming, with plans for new hospitals such as Orlando Health’s Lakeland Highlands Hospital and AdventHealth’s facility in South Lakeland (and that’s only scratching the surface), as well as expanded care centers like Central Florida Health Care’s future Lakeland clinic. Additionally, standalone urgent care and emergency room facilities are bubbling up on neighborhood corners.
Part of this surge is the result of a change in the state’s certificate of need requirements in 2019. But, of course, the other key part of the equation is increased demand from an ever-swelling population. But what exactly does it mean for the area?
For consumers, it means you have options! And those options mean you can find convenient care closer to home, more specialized care, and more competitive care.
That last part is the kicker for companies that are now wading into a market that has been historically dominated by the same giants. That means the field has turned more competitive than ever as less familiar names enter the market and vie for the trust of the people.
Competition breeds opportunity, and that’s a good motivator in the healthcare sector.
