Yoga for Beginners

Ideal for beginners aged 16 years of age and older and open to all levels, this class will focus on breathing, balance, strength and alignment using Vinyasa flow techniques. Cost is $5 but Silver Sneakers benefits are also accepted. Simpson Park Community Center at 1725 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. in Lakeland. No registration is required.

Women’s Self Defense Class

November 27, December 4, 11

Participants will learn to defend themselves against common threats, enhance safety, and lessen the chances of becoming a target. Perfect for teens, college students, and all women over the age of 15 years of age and taught by a female instructor! This course is from 6-7 p.m. and located at Simpson Park Rec, 1725 Martin L King Jr. Ave. Lakeland.  $12 per class or $38 per month. Computer Skills from Beginning to Intermediate – Senior Scholars Class

Come to the Rath Senior Connextions Center, located at College Heights United Methodist Church, 942 South Blvd., Lakeland. Alzheimer Association In-Person Caregiver Support Group

A safe and supportive environment for discussions and education about Alzheimer’s and specifically geared towards caregivers of friends or family members with Alzheimer’s. Confidential and educational, participants can develop methods and skills to assist in potential challenges together. Located at the Florida Presbyterian Homes- McArthur Building, 810 Lakeside Avenue, Lakeland from 10-11 a.m. This event is free of charge, but registration must be completed via the Alzheimer Association’s 24/7 Helpline at  800-272-3900.

Ultra Ultras Turkey Trot 5K

LifeLine Screening

LifeLine Screening will be at Cypresswood Golf & Country Club, 1099 Clubhouse Rd., Winter Haven starting at 9 a.m. offering a $159 special screening package including Carotid Artery Disease Screening, Atrial Fibrillation Screening, Peripheral Artery Disease Screening, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening and free hypertension screening.

Low Impact Exercise Class

Located in the Coleman Bush Building, 1104 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. in Lakeland, this free, low-intensity workout class will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Perfect for those who are just beginning their workout journey or need to slowly ease back in after some time off, Instructor Lilita Berrien will help you to improve cardiovascular function and circulation. No registration is required and the event is free for all participants.

Join Olivia Stancil, who has been teaching for more than three years, at the Ultimate Dance Academy for a high-energy Zumba workout class that combines cardio, muscle conditioning, and flexibility. Great for both beginners or more seasoned Zumba attendees. Located at 2980 Lakeland Highlands Rd., Lakeland, from 7-8 p.m. Cost is only $5 for your first class, and $10 for repeat attendees.

This free class is for patients who have a total joint replacement surgery scheduled, plus one guest per patient. The class will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Winter Haven Hospital – Wellness Conference Room, 200 Ave F NE in Winter Haven. Forget Me Not Infant Loss Support Group

Families and individuals who have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, or early infant death can gather with others to explore their grief while honoring their loss by learning how to strengthen communication with loved ones and engage in self-care activities. The meeting takes place from 1– 2 p.m. at Winter Haven Women’s Hospital, Classroom C, 101 Ave O SE, in Winter Haven. It is a free meeting. You can register online at www.baycare.org/events

A Taste of Exercise: Support Group

Learn a variety of basic exercises to keep you moving and healthy and join others in a support group after the class. Share stories of hope and strength after getting in a workout from exercise from 5:00 – 5:45 p.m., peer support group from 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. Located at Hollis Cancer Center, 3523 Lakeland Hills Blvd, Lakeland.

Tobacco Free Florida’s Quit Your Way 

Advent Health Heart of Florida presents a Group Quit Session, the in-person option of Tobacco Free Florida’s Quit Your Way program, where a trained and caring facilitator provides information and NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) such as gum, lozenges, and patches to participants 18 years of age or older. From 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at AdventHealth Heart of Florida, Cafeteria Conference Room 2, 40100 US Hwy 27, Davenport. Preregistration is required. Whether you’ve been managing it for years or are newly diagnosed, the support group offers valuable education, resources, and connections with others. Pulling Together for Health | Clay Shoot

Join Lakeland Regional Health for a fun Saturday of sporting clays. Registration and breakfast begin at 7 a.m., safety briefing at 8 a.m., and shooting begins at 8:30 a.m. All proceeds of the tournament will go towards LRH Foundation Greatest Need.
