Lakeland — The Watson Clinic Foundation Arts in Medicine (AIM) program is proud to take part in two upcoming events designed to support women who are affected by breast, endometrial, cervical and uterine cancers.
Titled Stand Up to Cancer, these events will feature supportive services from local cancer survivor advocates, valuable information on the cancer journey, and the availability of materials that can ease some of the burdens of undergoing treatment.
The first event, held on Monday June 10th between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm, will take place at the Arts in Medicine area on the 2nd floor of the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center at 1730 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland. This event will feature representatives from the Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida and the Ovarian Cancer Support Group of Polk County. Attendees can enjoy coffee, sweet treats, giveaways, and wig education for patients who have experienced hair loss during treatment. An interactive and collaborative art piece will also be on display as a means of showing how participation in the arts may empower cancer survivors. An RSVP is not required for this event.
The second event takes place the following week on Monday, June 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Well at 114 E. Parker Street in Lakeland, and is presented by the Friends of the Well (the non-profit arm of The Well) and the Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida. This pop-up event will feature tables from various cancer advocacy and support organizations, representatives from local stores that specialize in bras for breast cancer patients, and a store offering donated wigs for patients who might need them. An RSVP is required for this event.
