Lakeland, FL – During a grand finale event held on Thursday, April 13 from the Lakeland Country Club, Watson Clinic Chief Administrative Officer Jason Hirsbrunner was named the top fundraiser in READ Lakeland’s 2023 Kiss the Pig campaign. As is customary for the top fundraiser of each year’s campaign, he was given the opportunity to kiss a live pig during the event.
Jason raised over $18,000 during the two-week campaign – the highest amount raised by a single candidate in the campaign’s history. Every dollar raised supports the efforts of READ Lakeland to improve adult literacy rates in our community.
“It’s an honor to help raise funds for this wonderful organization that works to improve the lives of so many in our community,” Jason said. “The success of this campaign would not have been possible without the generous support of our Watson Clinic physicians and staff, members of our community, and our valued business partners.”
Founded in 1995, READ Lakeland offers one-to-one tutoring and small group instruction to an estimated 24% of adults in Lakeland who are functioning at the lowest levels of literacy. The annual Kiss the Pig for Literacy campaign is their signature fundraising effort. For more information and to support the organization, visit ReadLakeland.com.
