LAKELAND, FLA. — Last Friday afternoon on June 21, Lakeland Regional Health welcomed the second class of graduate medical education residents to celebrate their transition into clinical training alongside their family, friends, program leadership, and community leaders at the Bonnet Springs Event Center with a White Coat Ceremony. During the ceremony, a white coat was placed on each resident’s shoulders, signifying their entrance into the medical profession.
Lakeland Regional Health’s current GME residents are being joined by 69 new residents bringing their program to 120 residents and counting. Polk County is one of the country’s fastest-growing counties, and the GME residents are part of the organization’s strategic plan to address the growing health needs of the increasing population. Additionally, GME creates a rich environment of learning and research within the hospital. The residents are surrounded by expert faculty members who are dedicated to mentoring the next generation of physicians to create greater access to the organization’s award-winning care.

And you will create an impact on every patient you serve, advancing our mission of placing people at the heart of all we do,” said Dr. Timothy Regan, President of Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center and Chief Medical Officer of Lakeland Regional Health, while addressing the residents at the ceremony.
Lakeland Regional Health’s graduate medical education consists of seven accredited programs including Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Transitional Year.
