LAKELAND, Fla. – Central Florida Health Care recently celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its future Lakeland Health Center. This event marked a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in the community.
The event was held Dec. 4 at 1129 N Missouri Avenue in North Lakeland. The future site, located near the current health center, will be easily accessible for their existing patients. The current location will be phased out once the new health center is operational.
To meet the needs of growing numbers of low-income patients in the service area, CFHC is embarking on a capital campaign for $30 million to build two new health centers in Polk County, one in Lakeland and one in Winter Haven. The new Central Florida Health Care Lakeland Health Center will be a comprehensive healthcare hub, offering a wide range of CFHC services.
These include adult and pediatric medical and dental services, OB/GYN, behavioral health, lab and X-ray, and a drive-through pharmacy. It will be home to a Diabetes Center of Excellence, the first in Polk County, and Teaching Kitchen, which will focus on the needs of patients with diabetes, helping them to manage their disease and improve their health outcomes. The new Lakeland Health Center will be able to offer services to an additional 16,400 patients. When completed, both new health centers will bring care to nearly 30,000 additional residents of Central Florida and increase quality of life for communities throughout the region. Currently there are 16 CFHC locations and in 2023, Central Florida Health Care saw 76,650 unique patients throughout Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties.
Central Florida Health Care provides care for anyone who needs healthcare services, regardless of their ability to pay. CFHC accepts insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and provides a sliding fee scale to help those without insurance.
