Bartow, Fla. – It was an easy choice to re-establish the Physician of the Year program at Bartow Regional Medical Center.
“It’s a great opportunity to acknowledge their efforts and dedication to providing extraordinary patient care,” said Dr. Tarek Garas, the chief of staff for the Medical
Executive Committee.
When it came to choosing the winner, there were so many talented doctors to choose from.
“We solicited nominations from team members earlier this year and got amazing feedback – about 10 different providers,” said Dr. Garas. From that group, an honoree
was chosen – Dr. Gary Fennig, an anesthesiologist who has provided care at BRMC since February 2022.
The Physician of the Year program is being rebooted for 2023. It’s been at least 10 years since one was named, but starting next year, one will be named during Doctor’s Week every spring. He was recently honored in a hospital-wide celebration.
“Dr. Fennig is very involved in the care we provide,” one anonymous nomination read. “He is very approachable and always available. He is truly is part of our team. His
bedside manner is awesome and teamwork is second-to-none … The doctor shows compassion for not only the patient but the family. He takes time to explain what we will
be doing. Never rushes to answer their questions and always has time for answers to our questions.”
As the newest Physician of the Year, Dr. Fennig will receive a plague, a designated parking space and a gift card. His photo will also be displayed on the walls
of the hospital near the main lobby.
