PCMA Letter: Working for your health

The Polk County Medical Association (PCMA), its members and affiliates, are constantly working for the betterment of health in the community. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates once said, “Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.” At the PCMA, we take the opportunity to heal pretty seriously, which is one reason why we share news and relevant health topics with you through the pages of Central Florida Health News magazine.

In this edition, we’re focusing on some common health issues that can get in the way of your optimum work performance. Conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, migraine headaches, and diabetes are some examples that can have a negative impact on your professional efficiency. Yet, there are also choices that we make that can sometimes hinder our work. Making poor eating choices, using bad posture at the desk, and not getting enough sleep are examples of some of these choices.

If you take the time to look at your life and see what kind of choices you’re making that could be hurting your productivity at work, then you are seizing the opportunity to better your health and increase your quality of life.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we should also seize the opportunity to tell the special people in our lives how much we appreciate them. That is why we have an interesting article on meaningful ways to show your gratitude to the family caregiver. We hope you enjoy this edition of Central Florida Health News, and may you enjoy much health and happiness this Thanksgiving.
