PCMA Letter: My last letter as your president

IN THIS EDITION of Central Florida Health News magazine, you’ll read about some of the procedures that not only help improve the patient’s physical health, but also quality of life, and in some cases, improve self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery is a procedure that can accomplish one or all of these health goals, and Polk County Medical Association member Dr. Faeza Kazmier helps to answer some questions to elaborate on the topic.

Another procedure that helps with quality of life, when needed, is knee surgery. To learn more about the before, during, and after of the care surrounding this operation, take the pop quiz inside this issue. These and other informative topics await you inside these pages.

As this letter marks the end of my term as the president of the Polk County Medical Association, I would like to thank our 2015 Officers, Board of Trustees, and Executive Committee members for their commitment and service. I’d also like to take a moment and welcome the 2016 president, Dr. Sergio Seoane. Dr. Seoane has been active in both the PCMA and the Florida Medical Association Political Action Committee for several years, and I’m pleased to announce that he’s agreed to continue to serve as our president for the next term.

Under his leadership, the PCMA will continue to help support the medical community through education, networking, and legislative advocacy. Through We Care of Polk County, and the dedicated volunteer physicians who serve the organization, we will also continue to provide specialty care to local residents who otherwise could not receive medical treatment.

As you go about this month in preparation for the many joyous occasions ahead, all of us at the Polk County Medical Association would like to wish you and yours a safe holiday season and a healthy New Year!

Sincerely,

Arvind B. Soni, MD
Director of Radiation Oncology
St. Joseph’s Hospital, BayCare Health System
President, Polk County Medical Association
